A citizen of the USA can apply for a government grant. Government grants are fundamentally monetary funds granted by various government agencies, corporations, departments, foundations, etc. These grants are lawful ‘money giveaways’. National grants are not to be mistaken with federal assistance or national loans. These grants are monetary gains that are made obtainable by the government to those people or groups who meet the eligibility criteria set for these government grants. There are four main types of grants. The first are the project grants. These are granted to individuals on competitive bases. The next type of grant is categorical grants that are used for different intentions like hazard abatement project, urban forestry assistance and other specified projects. The last set of grants are block grants, wherein a large amount of money is given to state or lower government bodies with specific provisions on how they should be used.
